MEXICAN MONSTER PARTY FEBRUARY 2010
A look South-Of-The-Border into THE BLOODY VAMPIRE and NIGHT OF THE BLOODY APES
Hola amigos... is it that time already? Guess so... I've just had my head down working on the new book, so there's not much to report. Well, Punxatawney Phil was turned into a 100-foot tall atomic mutant and ate Latrobe, but you heard about that on the Bash News page already. Let's go to the movies! How about a double feature?

EL VAMPIRO SANGRIENTO ("The Bloody Vampire") 1962
Count Cagliostro is explaining to a few select students, together with his daughter Ines and her fiance Ricardo, the discoveries that his ancestors made regarding vampires; and how to exterminate them and rid humanity of the plague. The Count is planning a dangerous trip and he explains that he wants his daughter to receive the documents written and compiled by all the Cagliostros, who have dedicated their lives and knowledge to the liquidation of vampires. They are interrupted, and Gestas, the loyal servant, answers the door... it is a friend of Gestas, who has come to beg the Count to see his mistress, inasmuch as she is unconscious. The Counr cannot go, but asks Ricardo to, inasmuch as he, too, is a doctor. Ricardo finds the Countess in a state of shock, due to a terrible scare. However, when he offers to take care of her, Count Frankenhausen appears with his faithful housekeeper Frau Blucher, and in no uncertain terms, tells him it is none of his business. After Ricardo leaves, Count Frankenhausen, in a rage, beats the servant Lazaro for bringing a stranger into the house.
Very strange things take place in the home of the Frankenhausens. Every full moon, the Countess's servants disappear, therefore it is getting difficult to find anyone who will serve the Countess. However, when Ines finds out that they are looking for a servant, she has Gestas take her to the lady who hires for the Frankenhausens. No-one recognizes her, inasmuch as she is Count Cagliostro's daughter, inasmuch as she has been away at school. She is introduced into the home of the Frankenhausens and she is convinced that Frankenhousen is the vampire that her family has tried for centuries to exterminate. Little does she know that the Count's intention is to sustain himself with her blood, inasmuch as she is a nubile virgin. However, he finds himself falling in love with Ines - not knowing, of course, who she really is. Frau Blucher is very much upset, inasmuch as she herself is in love with the Count.
The Countess finds a way to get Ricardo to came and see her, and she gets him to agree to be her ally. However, the Count confides to Ricardo that the Countess is insane, and she has an obsession about the Count wanting to kill her. Ricardo, inasmuch as he is a boob, finds himself believing the Count and discounting the Countess's belief that she is in danger.
After the Count seclares his love to Ines - and after Ines finds out that the Count is really the vampire - Frau Blucher informs the Count as to who Ines really is. The Count is furious. Everybody is taken to the home of his father-in-law, the Marquis. Luckily, the mental giants Ricardo and Gestas also find out the truth, and following the Count and his party, amazingly arrive in time to save Ines from the clutches of the Count. However, Gestas is killed in the skirmish, and the Count, in order to survive, must take his own wife's life. Although Ines has been saved for the time being, the vampire still lives!

LA HORRIPILANTE BESTIA HUMANA ("Night of the Bloody Apes") 1968
Dr. Krauman, eminent surgeon, faces the terrifying reality from his fellow doctors who diagnose the illness of his 23-year old son, Julio, as fatal: Leukemia. Under the imploring looks of Julio, the doctor swears he will save his son's life.
Meanwhile, Lucy, a beautiful professional female wrestler throws her opponent from the ring, resulting in a cranium fracture. On her trip to the hospital, the unfortunate female is kidnapped by Krauman, who bloodily extracts her heart, and uses it as a transplant for Julio's. In the seperate effort to save his son's life, the mad doctor also injects him with a gorilla's blood to strengthen his resistance.
The result of the transplant is horrifyingly impressive,as the gorilla's blood converts Julio into a human beast with killer instincts. Escaping his father's house, Julio terrorizes the entire city, attacking and destroying.
The police inspector, Lucy and her fiance Arturo manage to discover the truth. The story ends with the death of the terrifying human beast Julio, dying in the arms of his father. Dr. Krauman, in the throes of emotion, begs forgiveness from his son for having created such a tragedy, driven by his innate father's love and desire to save his life. Lucy and Arturo embrace, and he smiles, knowing that when they are married.
